There’s an interesting article over at the Small Press Reviews blog discussing how modern writers depict the poor and how the underclass is mostly absent from modern works. The essay talks about both Welcome to Oakland and Unintended Consequences. RDSP authors get points for addressing the issue but get knocks for being too angry.

For my money, there’s nothing more enraging than the the ever increasing gap between the richest and the poorest.
