The article "Picketing the Zeitgeist—Harold Jaffe’s 'Crisis Art'" appears in the most recent issue of American Book Review. Here's an excerpt:

"Art that responds to a crisis is situational, hence created rapidly rather than painstakingly revised and refined…Crisis artists must swallow the poison in order to reconstitute it. Expel it as art."

Unfortunately you can't read the article online but it's definitely worth picking up a copy of ABR.
