Confluence / DogCon 3

July 25-27 • Four Points Sheraton Pittsburgh North Confluence20

Each DogCon has had its own personality and this one was no exception. This time around we worked with Confluence and did a con-within-a-con an approach we hadn’t taken before. Many thanks go to Kevin Hayes and the Confluence crew for making us feel welcome!

To open the weekend John Edward Lawson participated in the opening ceremony to talk a little about the history of DogCon so far. We had an all-RDSP author rapid fire reading and we celebrated the winner of the first Readers’ Choice Award (ODD MEN OUT by Matt Betts). We were also able to announce that the next Dog Star Books title will be, STEEL VICTORY by J.L. Gribble. Our authors were on tons of panels and our table in the dealers’ room got lots of traffic. Matt Betts and J.L. Gribble gave a writers’ workshop. Plus we had a terrific launch party for Lucy Snyder’s SOFT APOCALYPSES.

Overall it was an excellent time. Many thanks to everyone who came out. The attendees really make the event! If you missed it this year be sure to stay tuned for info on next year’s DogCon which is likely to be in Philly in October of 2015. The mad minds here are already cranking out a fabulous and unique plan.
