Happiness is Contagious

Lunch at North MarketExperience a Little Happiness

The gift-giving season is upon us like a chicken on a junebug and while making lists of what to buy for my family and what they should buy for me I keep thinking about the idea that experiences bring more happiness than things. Scientists have tested this and found it to be true and yet, even though people often realize this, it’s hard to put a dollar value on experience and even harder to take that value into account when making financial decisions.

That is why I’m excited, first of all, to be organizing a writing retreat because I know it has the potential to effect the happiness of so many people. In this crazy world anything that provides a little hope and happiness is well worth the money. This is also why I wanted to be able to provide the experience to someone who doesn’t have the money but deserves a little happiness just as much as the next person.

And finally, I’m excited to give you the chance to donate and possibly bring you a little happiness too. Science also says that investing in others makes us happier than spending money on ourselves which is why we want to cut you in on this deal. There was a recent experiment that suggests that spending as little as five dollars to help someone else can increase your own happiness. So what are you waiting for? Happiness is contagious!
