100 Jolts has received its first recommendation for a 2004 Stoker award. I would love to see Jolts get onto the final ballot. I really think it’s innovative in a genre that is often described as stagnant.

Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks this way. Take for instance this review from someone who posted at Amazon.com:
“I’ve been a horror lover since my mother took me to see The Exorcist when I was five. The thing is, I haven’t found anything new and exciting in the genre for years. That’s all changed. I received 100 Jolts, Michael Arnzen’s new book, from a friend of mine. I started to read it, expecting to find the same old, same old. I was completely wrong. This short story collection is exactly what the genre needed. Arnzen’s book has a voice that absolutely leaps off the page and stabs you in the brain. His descriptions are as brutal as Brett Easton Ellis’s American Psycho and as charismatic as King at his best.”
