Putting the Dream People to Bed

The new issue of The Dream People (http://www.dreampeople.org) guest edited by Royce Icon is now online. This time I wound up doing the work to put the thing together. I tell you, getting that thing up can be a hassle. I don’t know when I’ll get around to sending out the announcement that it’s gone live though.

The August/September issue is going to be edited by horrordiva and it’s got a very cool theme so I’m really looking forward to that one. You can check out the submission guidelines at The Dream People site, also I think they are posted on rdsp‘s journal. Since we ran a bit behind with this issue I imagine we’ll probably run behind on the next too. After that I really don’t know what will happen with the zine. I suspect that even if we got another guest editor we wouldn’t have the time to put another issue together for quite a while. We may have to consider putting The Dream People to bed.

That sounds like a truly tempting disaster! It would be very cool to do this but unfortunately I just don't know if we'd have time to actually get the issue online. Our guest editors have been doing a great job with the content but we've been getting worse and worse about putting the issue together in a timely manner, once the baby arrives I'm not sure we'll be able to do it at all.

  • Awww! This sucks! If it would be any help, I wouldn't mind guest editing an issue, and I have fairly decent web design skills too if you need any help with that.

If DP's gotta go, it's gotta go, but if you wanna keep it going for awhile longer and I can help, let me know. :)

  • If you wanted, it could be a Blood Cookies crossover issue. The next issue without a guest editor is October/November which we've always done with a Bizarre Horror theme so I think you'd be perfect to guest edit! We use the same format for all the poetry/fiction pages so if you were able to use one as a template I think you'd have no problem with the html. So far we haven't had any guest editors who really know html, plus most people don't know how much work it takes to do one of these things so I feel guilty asking them to do more than just read subs and choose the pieces. Of course you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. So if you really want to do it I say a big HELL YEAH!

  • Cool! The only thing I can think of is I might not be much good at coming up with matching artwork like you are, you might have to tweak some things or add the artwork yourself.

I have Dreamweaver, so the HTML won't be any problem even if you use some stuff I'm not familiar with. Dreamweaver knows all, for it is the Lord. ;) Plus I'm used to doing this with Bloodcookies every other month. I'd just need your FTP settings to go in and upload what I did, or I could always just put the stuff on the pages then email them to you to upload or something, like in a zipped file. That might be better, you could give everything a once-over that way before it's uploaded. My current email addy is carmilla8@gmail.com, just send me the details when the time comes. :)
