Today we’re announcing the final book signed for our novella line making that seven books total in the first wave. Bottling His Ghosts by S.H. Cooper encapsulates all the creepy drama of the line. Bottling His Ghosts is a Victorian gothic novella that follows twenty-five-year-old Henrietta “Netta” Ward after she returns to her family’s country estate, Daunderhead Hall, to mourn her husband’s death. Further grief awaits when she discovers Thorn, her cousin raised as a brother, has also come home in shame, having been stripped of his job as coroner’s officer due to alcoholism. His condition puts great strain on the Alden family, causing it to fracture, until only Netta and Thorn remain in Daunderhead. But the dark corridors and quiet farm lanes surrounding the house are far from empty. Apparitions begin to appear, stalking Netta, and Thorn is taken by uncharacteristic bouts of violence. In order to save them both, Netta must uncover how a house never haunted is now held captive by the supernatural.
The Selected Papers from the Consortium for the Study of Anomalous Phenomena (CSAP) is a line of novellas curated by editor/academic R.J. Joseph. She serves both as editor for the line and also imaginary “Crypt-Keeper,” introducing each tale as a found document and part of the fictional journal produced by the CSAP society. The first book in the series, Bleak Houses, is now available and contains two novellas from Kate Maruyama. We have also announced Errant Roots from Sonora Taylor, 12 Hours from L.
