In between projects—it’s a dangerous place for me. This time around I’m extra gun-shy of starting up new projects. I really wore myself out with that last bunch of books and somewhere along the way I’ve lost a lot of my enthusiasm for working with new authors. I’m definitely excited about doing D. Harlan Wilson’s next book and it will be so cool to get Audiovile out to the masses because it’s such a unique project. I’m not sure what’s going to happen with Health Agent because it’s running behind schedule.

Postage Increase Could Kill Small Press Magazines
ByshaunWell, the postal rate increase is way more heinous than I thought. I was shocked to discover that the postal service has based the hike on a proposal by Time Warner which gives mega magazine publishers a big break while charging small publications 2 to 3 times more. This doesn’t affect book publishers as much…
WHC – Part I
ByshaunGot back from WHC pretty late last night. What in the world made me think I could show up to work bright and early Monday morning? The con was fabulous and exhausting. We still have to total up everything and I know there won’t be a profit due to the cost of the trip but…
Postage Meters?
ByshaunWe’re going to be sending out a lot of review copies of books in the next few months and I’m dreading those sweaty trips to the post office (our local branch doesn’t have air-conditioning!?!). So I’m looking into getting a postage meter. They don’t seem to be too expensive to rent but I’m guessing the…

Here’s another review that slipped through the cracks. This one of Jesus Coyote appeared in the September issue of The Brooklyn Rail. Here’s an excerpt: “Harold Jaffe’s docufiction Jesus Coyote explores the media mythos surrounding Charles Manson and his followers to intriguing and compelling effect.” The full review appears about halfway down the page.
When it rains
ByshaunWe’ve had two requests to interview someone from RDSP so I’ve spent most of the day trying to formulate answers about the publishing business, small press vs big, agents etc. Suprisingly I do have a few interesting things to say on the topic. I’m not being sarcastic, I really didn’t think my answers would be…

There’s also been updates to the info about the Horror Between the Sheets antho too so check it out. I’ve been working on ads lately, we’ll have a…

I could sure use a little breather (midget appears onstage breathing heavily)
Make sure to take some time for yourself, Jennifer! Getting burned out is the pits — I’m a little b.o. myself right now (from teaching & writing) and am looking forward to a little breather in July … D.
Who let that midget in here?!
I will be dealing with stress of another kind soom…my sister’s wedding. Then we are supposed to go on vacation. I tell ya it is nearly impossible for me to drag myself away from my responsibilities. Intellectually I know that coming back refreshed from a break will make me more efficient, I’ll get more done in less time but it never seems like the right time so I keep putting it off.
