BOOK DEAL: Cherie Priest’s EVERGREEN

We are excited to announce we’ve signed Cherie Priest’s EVERGREEN, pitched to us as This Is Where It Ends meets The Haunting of Hill House. This is one of those rare moments where we get a chance to work with someone who shaped the landscape of modern popular fiction on a book that takes risks and doesn’t pull punches. Sharing EVERGREEN with readers in 2027 will be a highlight for us! Keep an eye out for further announcements over the next year as we prepare to unleash Cherie’s haunting vision.

About the Book

In 1998 at Evergreen High School in Seattle, Kameron, Nick, Stacy, Jennifer, and Seth were the Fearsome Fivesome—a clique of working-class teenagers looking forward to graduation, both giddy and terrified of what their futures held. Then Evergreen became the site of one of the earliest and deadliest school shootings in U.S. history. Four of them made it out. And one of them…was the shooter.

The survivors scattered in the aftermath, uncertainties about what happened hardening into grudges.

Now, two decades later, the infamous building sits shuttered and abandoned. Kameron hides her past, refusing to talk about it. Nick lives with the lingering pain of a bullet still lodged inside him. Stacy hasn’t known a moment’s peace since turning to the spirit world for answers. And Jennifer is still looking for proof that everyone was wrong about Seth—that he wasn’t just another angry young man with a gun, that he was caught up in something much larger and stranger.

Not one of them has been back inside since the day their world was upended.

But the twenty-fifth anniversary approaches, and Evergreen is back in the news. The survivors are starting to see Seth out of the corners of their eyes. Something is seeking out old friends, calling them back for one last trip inside—past the boarded and broken windows, into the sinister heart of something much older than the school itself, and much darker than the dead who still wander the halls.

It’s time for the Fearsome Foursome to put aside their differences and discover the truth of what happened that terrible day. Twenty-five years ago, they went to school and barely escaped with their lives. Can they face Evergreen and make it out again?
