A letter to John from Drew Morse, Ph.D.
Chair, 2007 Rhysling Poetry Awards:

Congratulations. Your poem “Demands of the Voluptuous Virginal Sacrifice” has been nominated for a 2007 Rhysling Poetry Award (in the short form category). The Rhysling Awards recognize the very best speculative and fantastic poetry published during the previous calendar year. This is the 30th year the Rhyslings have been awarded. For more information about the Rhyslings, please visit http://www.sfpoetry.com/archive.htm.”

Wow, we knew “Marvels of Horror” had been nominated in the long form category but I didn’t know any of John’s poems had been nominated for the short form. “Demands” is one of my favorites from The Troublesome Amputee. It’s so great to see something John has done get so much recognition. We’ve both sacrificed a lot so that John could do writing and it’s rare to have that pay off so I intend to savor these successes as much as possible!
