A Collection of Dreamscapes
Raw Dog Screaming Press (RSDP) is thrilled to announce the signing of Bram Stoker Award winning poet Christina Sng for a follow-up book, A Collection of Dreamscapes. In 2018, Sng won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in Poetry with A Collection of Nightmares (RDSP 2017). Sng is an internationally known poet and artist and has had her work included in many publications around the world.
“My new collection is a montage of dreamscapes from mythologies, fairy tales, dystopias, transformations, and the dark side of human nature,” Sng said. “Woven throughout the book are themes of empowerment and the human capacity to channel our deepest inner strength to do whatever it takes to survive.”
In A Collection of Dreamscapes Christina Sng broadens her horizons by exploring folk tales, mythology and even dark fantasy. Just like her first collection this one includes a healthy dose of monsters and darkness alongside some more fantastic, dreamlike verses. Sng’s spare, clean style lures the reader into increasingly deeper pools of imagination but instead of gasping and drowning she teaches us to swim deftly in a sea of ideas, allowing us to explore several currents and peer into many caves. No matter the topic, Sng’s precise language sets the scene and brings the action to life with an unerring instinct to make us feel we’re part of the dream.
“I’m elated to be working with Raw Dog Screaming Press again with A Collection of Dreamscapes,” Sng said. “They’ve been absolutely wonderful and kind, and so tremendously supportive of my work. I know my new book is in good hands.”
Raw Dog Screaming Press is excited to be working with Sng again and can’t wait for readers to get their hands on what will be an essential addition to any collection and will appeal broadly but widely to fans of dark fiction, science fiction, and fantasy. Publication is slated for some time in early 2020.
“For years Christina’s poetry has touched so many people across all genres and we’re happy to help expand her reach even further,” said editor Jennifer Barnes.
Sng’s work has already garnered some high praise from her peers. “I loved this collection of poems that flow in a story cycle; tendrils of images from one flavoring the next,” said Linda D. Addison, award-winning author of How to Recognize a Demon Has Become Your Friend and HWA Lifetime Achievement Award Winner. “New and old myths, reborn in Sng’s brilliant imagination into unique, grownup versions where empowerment rules and old-fashioned revenge is very satisfying.”
