We’re excited to announce that two of last year’s releases have made it into the final ballot for the Bram Stoker Awards. An Exorcism of Angels, a poetry collection by Stephanie Wytovich, and While the Black Stars Burn, a short fiction collection from Lucy A. Snyder have both made the final cut.

Congratulations to these talented authors and all the others on the ballot! View the entire ballot here.

Praise for While the Black Stars Burn

“Malevolent lineages and emotionally fraught familial relationships propel the plots of most of the 13 genre-spanning stories in Snyder’s strong collection….Snyder excels in her depictions of characters struggling desperately—and often futilely—to extricate themselves from terrifying snares set by loved ones. Readers will find her stories a cut above most other tales of interpersonal and supernatural horror.”—Publishers Weekly

Praise for An Exorcism of Angels

“Fall into a world where the angels themselves love, but the demonic will love you with more teeth. These are beautifully twisted poems of madness…” –Mercedes M. Yardley, author of Pretty Little Dead Girls

“There is a lyrical beauty and a haunting, melancholy cadence to Wytovich’s work that is utterly irresistible.…Herein lies a world of pain, and it’s deliciously good.”–Kealan Patrick Burke, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Kin and The Turtle Boy
