  • OK, I promised some Bermuda pics. I took about 100 photos but I’ll just post a couple here.

  • So apparently the Quimby’s Bizarro Fiction event last week went really well. There are a bunch of videos up on YouTube where you can catch both D. Harlan Wilson and Eckhard Gerdes reading. These guys are both excellent readers so it’s worth checking out. The video is in 6 parts so you can start with…

  • We’re back! Bermuda was great, cruising is cool but I’ll never be a pirate. There’s lots to catch up on here. For instance a cool review came in for Blankety Blank while we were gone. This is the first review to reference the Ultimate Warrior. I hope it’s not the last! The book reads like…

  • It’s not too often that you get a heads up before a review is posted but tonight at 11:59 pm Brian Hardin will be posting his review of Isabel Burning over at http://www.zombiemall.com/zblog. I’m pretty excited about this review because Brian seems to be having the same reaction I had when I read the manuscript;…

  • HorrorWorld just published a review of Horror Isn’t a 4-Letter Word. Here’s a snippet: Matt Warner talks to the writer in us not from above, from a place that most authors will never achieve, but right next to you. His style makes the reader feel as if this were a discussion over a beer in…

  • Isabel Burning (limited edition) by Donna Lynch pre-order discount $ 20 off This edition features a hand painted cover by artist Steven Archer. No two covers will be exactly the same. There will only be 150 numbered copies and the book will be signed by both the author and artist. It will also contain 20+…

  • An interview with John Edward Lawson that previously appeared in Doorways Magazine is now available online from speceditor666 here: http://speceditor666.livejournal.com/8159.html So far the section on John’s hair has caused the most stir.

  • Rod Lott over at Bookgasm seems to really have enjoyed Horror Isn’t a 4-Letter Word. This paragraph in particular cracked me up: One of the more entertaining pieces has Warner dissecting dialogue from an early draft of Brian Keene’s CITY OF THE DEAD and the published version of J.K. Rowling’s HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER…

  • Mike Arnzen just posted a cool toast to RDSP in his blog that really touched us. For the most part indie publishing is a labor of love, heavy on the labor. It’s great to see that the values we have tried to instill in the company are shining through. I was particularly gratified by this…

  • We’ve been getting some interesting advance reviews for Guide Dog Book’s first non-fiction title, Horror Isn’t a 4-Letter Word. Here’s an excerpt from Monster Librarian “…offers up an entertaining nonfiction potpourri with a writer’s personal and critical perspectives on writing and the horror genre. There are few published books that provide this kind of content…

  • Chicago, July 10th

Move over, Beatniks, here are the Bizarros! Four of the leading members of the hottest new literary movement in America will be reading from their at 7 pm, Thursday, July 10, at 1854 W. • Arzen’s at it again. Check out his latest contest here. Prizes include: * An almost-impossible-to-find signed “Advanced Review Copy” of The B*tchfight by Arnzen + the first four issues of Jai Nitz’ horror comic series, Heaven’s Devils (Image). * A signed copy of Arnzen’s (now out-of-print and still out-of-its-mind) novella, Licker + the first four…

  • I just discovered that Matt Staggs who used to be involved in the ultra cool SkullRing.org now has his own blog and boutique publicity company. I found his entry on Book Publicity Tips to be particularly interesting. The whole blog is cool, especially if you’re into books, so I definitely recommend checking it out: http://entertheoctopus.wordpress.com

  • Dangerous Ambulant Carrot

Icons of Fright will be running a very detailed review of Pocket Full of Loose Razorblades (John’s collection that was put out by Afterbirth Books.) It’s a really cool piece because Scott Lefebvre is the reviewer who best understands where John’s work is coming from. The review isn’t up yet but I’ll post a link…

  • Imaginary Books

Our children’s imprint, Imaginary Books, now has a home on the web: http://www.imaginarybooks.net. I threw the site together pretty quickly. I’m happy with the look but, as always, the navigation/organization could be better. Right now there’s not too much content and it’s hard to build a site that can grow.

  • Good Newses!!

Ramsey Campbell has blurbed Worse Than Myself! “Adam Golaski has an enviable talent for the insidiously weird. His images creep into the imagination and stay in the mind like nightmares you didn’t know you had. He’s a writer of real originality, subtlety, and eloquent suggestiveness.” Ramsey Campbell, The Grin of the Dark Also, American Book…

  • The first few reviews have come in for Blankety Blank. I was starting to worry since we sent out a lot of copies but hadn’t seen any reviews yet. Ideally it’s best to have a semi-steady stream of reviews starting a month or two before the book comes out until at least several months after…

  • Next month we’re actually going on a real vacation, a cruise to Bermuda! I’m looking forward to it but I’m also anxious because I don’t think we’ve been away for this long since we started RDSP. Most years we tried to convince ourselves that going to a convention was a vacation (even though we work…

  • A couple things I’ve noticed about this journal: 1. I seem to have a lot of things to post here lately. Many days I’ve even got more than one link, blurb, review, tidbit of news or what have you to post but I like to keep it short so I space it out instead. I…

  • Somebody Dies had this to say about Lemur: Readers who like their social commentary wrapped up in absurdity will find a lot to like about Lemur. You can read it as a tightly written treatise on consumption in the modern age, or as the touching story of a serial killer’s coming of age. Either way…

  • Spreken zie deutsch?

Yesterday we got the fabulous news from that The Fall of Never will be translated into German! It’s funny because this is the 2nd RDSP book to be translated; the first collection we published has just been translated into French and now the first novel we put out will get the German treatment. It just…

  • Check out this article at 3:AM Magazine by Barry Katz. It’s about a crazed gig Tom Bradley gave recently in Osaka, Japan: His life was in danger. There were motorcycle punks, Yakuza gangsters and extreme rightist fanatics all over the place!
